We take a look at the most likely outcomes in this season’s premier League campaign
Part 2
In the second part of our Premier League preview, we move our focus onto the individual betting markets. With odds courtesy and of William Hill once again, we take a look at the players that feature prominently in the Golden Boot betting as well as the Player of the Year awards.
Golden Boot
The Golden Boot odds are intriguing. Harry Kane heads the betting but it unclear where last season’s Golden Boot winner will be playing this season. The Spurs man has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City but Spurs seem unwilling to sell. Wherever Kane is plying his trade, he is certainly going to be amongst the goals. However, the longer the transfer saga runs on, the more games Kane is likely to miss at the beginning of the season.
Next in the Golden Boot betting is a forward not yet playing in the Premier League. Inter Milan forward, Romelu Lukaku, has all-but-confirmed his return to Chelsea and he could be the final piece in the Blues jigsaw. There is certainly no doubting Lukaku’s pedigree. Belgium’s all-time record scorer, managed 26 goals in Serie A last season and already has 113 Premier League goals to his name.
Rounding off the ‘big three’ in the Golden Boot betting market is Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah. The 29-year old won the award in both 2017/18 and 2018/19 and was just one goal short of Golden Boot winner, Harry Kane last season. With uncertainty surrounding Kane’s future and Lukaku not yet officially a Chelsea player, Mohamed Salah could prove the sensible bet at 4/1.
With each-way bets paying for four places in the Golden Boot market, Danny Ings and Ivan Toney could be worth serious consideration at 33/1 and 40/1 respectively.
Odds
7/2 – Harry Kane
4/1 – Romelu Lukaku
9/2 – Mohamed Salah
20/1 – Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling
25/1 – Diogo Jota, Timo Werner, Patrick Bamford, Bruno Fernandes, Sadio Mane, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Player of the Year
The POTY betting market certainly suggests another dominant season for current champions, Manchester City. Kevin de Bruyne has won the award in consecutive seasons and is well-fancied to make it a hat-trick of Player of the Year awards. The Belgian international is undoubtedly City’s talisman and their hopes of another Premier League title could rest firmly on his shoulders.
Manchester City are however far from a one-man team. New signing, Jack Grealish has been well-backed since making the move from Aston Villa and is now just 7/1. City’s other major transfer target, Harry Kane, is 13/2 with bookmakers expecting him to move from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before the transfer window slams shut.
Manchester City’s main title challenge could come from European champions, Chelsea. The last time the Blues lifted the Premier League title, N’Golo Kante was named Player of the Year. At 16/1 the Frenchman is worth considering again.
Odds
11/2 – Kevin de Bruyne
13/2 – Harry Kane
7/1 – Jack Grealish
9/1 – Romelu Lukaku
12/1 – Jadon Sancho, Mohamed Salah
14/1 – Raheem Sterling, Bruno Fernandes
16/1 – N’Golo Kante, Kai Havertz, Virgil van Dijk, Phil Foden, Ruben Dias
