Top betting selections for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s replacement
We’re nine games into the Premier League campaign and as the league starts to take shape, the pressure is starting to build on several under-performing managers. At 4/9 with William Hill, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the overwhelming favourite to be the next Premier League manager to face the chop. Last weekend’s 5-0 humbling at home to rivals, Liverpool has left Solskjaer’s future at Old Trafford looking rather insecure. Here at freebet.com we will take a look at some of the big names being tipped to replace the Norwegian in the Old Trafford hotseat.
Conte tipped for Premier League return
William Hill list former Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte as the strong favourite at 1/2. The Italian is out of work having left Inter Milan at the end of last season. Concerns remain over Conte’s longevity given that he has never lasted more than three seasons in any previous role. However, the 52-year-old is a proven winner. Conte has won four Serie A titles during spells at Juventus (3) and Inter Milan (1) whilst he guided Chelsea to Premier League glory in 2016/17.
Next in the market is another unemployed manager with a proven track record with former Real Madrid head coach, Zinedine Zidane available at 9/1. Zidane’s relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo would be seen as a major positive whilst the Frenchman’s appointment could convince compatriot, Paul Pogba to extend his Manchester United contract.
Erik ten Hag (12/1), Brendan Rodgers (12/1) and Mauricio Pochettino (16/1) have all been linked to the Old Trafford hotseat. All three tick many boxes as young, ambitious managers that like to adopt an attractive playing style. However, their current employment at Ajax, Leicester City and PSG respectively could prove a major stumbling block.
If not Solskjaer?
Although Solskjaer is seemingly on borrowed time in Manchester, he’s not the only top flight manager looking nervously over his shoulder. Norwich City manager, Daniel Farke is a very backable 10/3 to be the Premier League’s next managerial casualty. The Canaries are winless so far this season having picked up just two points from their opening nine matches. Statistically Norwich City posses the league’s worst attack and worst defence and are already five points from safety.
Spurs boss, Nuno Espírito Santo is currently priced at 16/1. The former Wolves boss’ pragmatic approach has attracted criticism from several quarters. Tottenham fans expect exciting, free-flowing football and a return of just nine goals in their nine games so far epitomises the negative approach witnessed in North London thus far. A home game against Manchester United awaits this weekend. Should Spurs fails to defeat the misfiring Red Devils, Nuno Espírito Santo’s chances of being axed will shorten considerably.
