How has Gabriel Jesus and Jack Grealish’s absence impacted the odds?
Manchester City continue their charge towards a fourth Premier League title in five seasons with a huge home fixture against top four-chasing Tottenham Hotspur. Here at freebet.com we’ll preview the much-anticipated game, bringing team news, betting tips and the latest match odds from our betting partners at William Hill.
Team news
Gabriel Jesus and Jack Grealish remain absent for the home side whilst Pep Guardiola is likely to make a few changes from the team that eased to a 5-0 win away at Sporting in the Champions League.
Spurs will once again be without Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga but should be able to recall Eric Dier for the trip to the Etihad.
Man City vs Spurs: Head-to-head
Manchester City do not have a great recent record against Spurs, winning just one of the last five league meetings between the sides.
Spurs won the reverse fixture 1-0 back in August but were on the receiving end of a 3-0 defeat when they visited the Etihad last season.
Betting tips
One side has kept a clean sheet in each of the last five meetings between these two rivals. If there is to be a clean sheet on Saturday it is likely to be for the hosts. City have not lost a league games since October, a sequence aided by a run of clean sheets at home in the league stretching back to Boxing Day. The Premier League leaders have let in six goals at home all season.
In contrast, Spurs have lost three consecutive league games and not kept a clean sheet in any competition since New Year’s Day. Man City are generously priced at Evens to win to nil on Saturday.
With 61 goals in the league this season, picking just one Manchester City player in the goal scorer markets is tough. Riyad Mahrez is City’s top scorer this season with 17 goals. The Algerian has nine goals in his past nine matches and will prove popular at 11/8 to score at any time. However, we’re leaning towards England international, Raheem Sterling. Sterling scored a hat-trick away at Norwich City in Man City’s last Premier League and was again on the scoresheet away at Sporting in midweek.
Sterling may be one of those to sit out the visit of Spurs having completed the full 90 minutes in each of Man City’s last three matches. If he starts then he’s well worth backing at 5/1 to score first on Saturday. Sterling can also be backed to score at any time at 6/4.
Match Odds
- Manchester City: 1/4
- Draw: 9/2
- Tottenham Hotspur: 11/1
