Betting odds, predictions and free bets
There are three Premier League games kicking off at 3PM on Saturday and all offer a variety of exciting betting opportunities. Using odds courtesy of our betting partners at William Hill, we’ll assess all three games, offering an insight into some pre-match bets worth your consideration.
Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa
It wasn’t that long ago that Patrick Vieira versus Steven Gerrard was an elite midfield battle in the Premier League. However the two icons of English football are now set to be in opposite dugouts at Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace are one of the Premier League’s most in-form teams and can equal a club record of eight Premier League games without defeat on Saturday. The Eagles have had the edge on Aston Villa in recent years and have won five of their past six home league games against Saturday’s visitors.
Neither Crystal Palace or Aston Villa have struggled for goals so far this season so over 2.5 match goals is a sensible bet at evens. However, given Crystal Palace’s excellent home record against Aston Villa we’re leaning towards a home win. You can back Crystal Palace to win and over 2.5 match goals at a superb price of 27/10.
Crystal Palace have conceded nine goals from set pieces already this season – more than any other Premier League team. Therefore, if you’re looking to place a bet on a specific goal scorer for Aston Villa it is worth considering any player that offers a threat from set plays. Tyrone Mings is an obvious choice. The England international scored against Brighton last weekend and is 18/1 to score for a second straight league game.
Match odds
- C. Palace – 6/5
- Draw – 12/5
- Aston Villa – 23/10
Liverpool vs Southampton
Liverpool almost always get the upper hand when Southampton come to town. The Reds have won four successive home games against Southampton without conceding a goal. In fact, Southampton haven’t won at Anfield since 2013.
Incredibly, Liverpool have scored at least two goals in 16 consecutive games in all competitions. At 3/10, Jurgen Klopp’s free-scoring Liverpool side are excellent value to score over 1.5 team goals on Saturday.
Egyptian, Mohamed Salah had been in red-hot form this season and has quite rightly grabbed all of the headlines. However, we like the look of former Saints forward, Sadio Mane in the goal scorer markets. Mane has quietly gone about his business in recent games but has scored in his last four home league games. Mane opened the scoring in this fixture last season and is 7/2 to repeat that again this weekend.
Match odds
- Liverpool – 2/7
- Draw – 9/2
- Southampton – 10/1
Norwich City vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
Norwich City are aiming to win three Premier League games in a row for the first time since December 2012. The Canaries have been much-improved recently, winning back-to-back league games. The four goals scored in those two fixtures equalled their tally for the previous 20.
However, we cannot see past an away win at Carrow Road and Wolves look excellent value for the win at 23/20. Wolves have overcome a difficult start to the season and sit sixth in the Premier League thanks to a run of five wins in seven league games.
Neither Norwich City or Wolves have been prolific this season, scoring just 19 league goals between them. So don’t expect a goal-fest at Carrow Road. Under 2.5 goals is a sensible bet at 8/13.
Teemu Pukki is often the go-to guy for Norwich City. The Finland international is responsible for four of the club’s seven league goals so far this season. With all four goals coming in the first half of matches, he is a decent option for first scorer at 4/1.
Match odds
- Norwich – 13/5
- Draw – 9/4
- Wolves – 23/20
