NFL Appoints Official Betting Partner

With the NFL season just around the corner, many are naturally looking for places to put on NFL bets.
And, as legal sports betting continues to rise, so does the number of sports betting providers entering the US market.
Just this week we learn that the NFL has signed a multi-year deal with data firm Sportradar AG.
As the richest sports league in America, it was only a matter of time before such a partnership was formed.
According to sources, legalizing NFL betting will add $2.33 billion worth of revenue boost to the sport.
This is something this new partnership will help facilitate, with Sportradar distributing official league data for wagering.
So, why has the NFL taken so long to make their move and connect with the gambling world? Well, for decades, the NFL has upheld the stance that gambling has no place in US sport. This was still the case when the ban on online gambling was lifted by the US Supreme Court last year.
Now, the NFL realizes that sports gambling is the US will continue to mature with or without their input. However, with their input, they are on track to see a huge cash injection into their organization.
As it stands, legal sports betting takes place in 10 states, with a further 8 states on the brink of passing gambling laws.
“Sportradar has been an excellent partner in the last four years and has provided the league, our teams, and media marketplace with innovative data products,” said Hans Schroeder, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of NFL Media.
“We look forward to working with Sportradar to deliver fast, accurate official league data that will innovate and improve experiences for our fans across platforms.”
“We are thrilled to become NFL’s exclusive data distribution partner, undoubtedly one of the most important partnerships in Sportradar’s history. We are confident we will maximize our strong partnership with the NFL and deliver ground-breaking products across the gaming, fantasy and the media worlds,” said Carsten Koerl, Chief Executive Officer of Sportradar.
“As the unequivocal global leader in sports data, we are ideally positioned to support the NFL in providing innovative products to enhance the way fans experience the game and help maintain the continued integrity of the NFL competition” he continues.
