DraftKings - Partnership with Kambi strengthened.
Partnership with Kambi strengthened.

If you are into your betting here in the US, you will no doubt have heard of DraftKings; one of the biggest online betting brands bringing great betting products to our growing community of hungry bettors.

Just this week, DraftKings made an announcement that many of its customers have welcomed. In a statement, the betting brand told how they were extending their agreement with Kambi; the European tech firm that powers the operator’s sports betting operations in New Jersey.

But, this deal entails a lot more than a continuation of tech support. Kambi will aid DraftKings during its expansion phase, helping them launch betting facilities in another eight states where online betting is becoming legalized.

Jason Robins, CEO of DraftKings, says “backend sports technology that has enabled us to offer our customers an engaging product in a highly competitive market.”

Kambi said, in its official press release, that the extended deal will secure the technology provider’s “current revenues in New Jersey for at least the short-to-medium term, while also providing the opportunity to generate incremental revenues as and when the partnership enters the additional jurisdictions.”

As well as New Jersey, DraftKings also has its sights set on other American states, placing a huge focus on New York. Having hosted a ceremony for its retail sportsbook at del Lago Resort & Casino in Upstate New York, many expect DraftKings to be at the forefront of the New York betting industry.

Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) will help them achieve these growth plans.

Robins reported that DFS in the US has grown by 15%-20% over the past 12 months. Though activity and interest are on the incline, this part of their betting offer is not growing at the pace that the organization hoped for. With their mobile sportsbook seeing a 60% spike, DraftKings had hoped DFS betting would follow suit.

Expansion into New York will see DraftKing enter its third state, with the brand also launching its brick-and-mortar sportsbook at Scarlet Pearl Casino in Mississippi last year.
